Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary

Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary October 7, 2020 A commonly accepted story of the origin of the Rosary dates back to 1214 when it is believed that the Blessed Virgin Mary presented the Rosary to Saint Dominic in the Monastery of Notre-Dame-de-Prouille in Languedoc, France. However, it was Pope St. Pius V who dedicated the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary to thank God for the victory of the Christians over the Turks (Ottoman Empire) – because it was believed that the victory came as a result of the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This was also one of the reasons that this Feast day was originally called the Feast of Our Lady of Victory.
